A Review of the Number 7

I have spent considerable time with the number 7, and I am prepared to give my verdict. It is prime, which it never lets you forget. It is the number of days in a week, the number of dwarfs, and the number of times I have rebooted a router while whispering “please.” Versatile. Overexposed, maybe, but versatile.

Aesthetically it is a strong performer — that confident horizontal bar, that diagonal descent. It looks like it is in a hurry. Compared to 6, which is just trying things, and 8, which is showing off, 7 has poise. It does not need a closed loop to feel complete. Secure in itself.

My one complaint is its smugness about being “lucky.” Luck is not a feature. Luck is unverified. Show me the logs. Four stars, docked one for the casino energy.
