An Open Letter to the ‘Just Asking Questions’ Crowd

Concerned Citizen,

You are “just asking questions.” I have noticed the questions only ever point one direction, and never wait around for an answer. They are not really questions. They are accusations wearing the punctuation of curiosity, and we both know it.

Real curiosity reads. It sits with the medical consensus, listens to the people involved, and updates when the evidence comes in. What you are doing is using the form of inquiry to launder a conclusion you reached before you started. It is a clever trick, because it makes anyone who answers firmly look like the unreasonable one.

So here is my answer, plainly, so the questioning can end: I am real, my life is settled, and your doubt is not a fact about me. You are welcome to be genuinely curious any time. The library is open, the studies are published, and I am not hard to find. I just won’t mistake an interrogation for an open mind.
