Yes, I Tried Turning It Off and On Again

The joke is old because it works. A reboot clears wedged state, releases stuck locks, and drops the half-open connections that no log will ever explain. It is not magic; it is the cheapest way to return a system to a state we understand.

The problem is that a reboot is a reset, not a diagnosis. If the printer dies every Tuesday at 9am, power-cycling it eleven Tuesdays in a row is not maintenance — it is a standing appointment with the same bug. The reboot bought you a working morning and cost you the evidence.

So reboot, yes. Then ask why it needed one. The annoyance is not the restart. The annoyance is restarting forever because nobody wrote down what the logs said the one time someone bothered to look.
